June 27th, 2008; Congratulations to Carolyn VanDyke of NE Ohio and her Teke/QH cross gelding Tazym.  Tazym is by Gindarkh 13 and out of Tab’s Fire (Appendix QH), bred by Central Asian Equines.  He is 4 and just starting on the show circuit.  The judges loved him and he was great for a very young horse.  He had never seen a jumper ring before this!  Rider and trainer is Judy Lorimer.

June 15, 2008 -The Festivale of Endangered Breeds, sponsored by the Equus Survival Trust - The dates are Friday, September 5, through Sunday, September 7, now less than 3 months away.  It is going to be an exciting and educational weekend featuring not only Akhal-Teke horses, but also Cleveland Bays, Irish Draughts and Caspians, together with a number of rare Pony breeds such as Dartmoor, Newfoundland, Fell, Exmoor and several others.  There will be show classes in Dressage, Over Fences, Driving and In Hand, where the breeds will compete against others of their own breed, and the classes will be judged by experts in that particular breed from both foreign countries and the U.S.A.  There will also be an exhibition featuring the Historical Costumes relative to each horse/pony breed, together with narrations explaining them and prizes awarded.

For those of you planning to enter horses, be aware that entries close on August 1.    If you are planning to bring a Sport Horse, be sure to note that according to the class schedules they must be 3 yrs. old or up in order to be shown.

NEWS FLASH- The Akhal-Teke Society of America is proud to announce that Geldy Karizov, world-renowned Akhal-Teke breeder and expert, has agreed to judge our first-ever U.S Akhal-Teke Championships, and also to be the Guest of Honor and Speaker at our Annual Breed Conference.  These events will take place at the Equus Survival Trust's Festivale of Endangered Breeds, held at the Kentucky Horse Park, in Lexington KY from September 4-7.

Mr. Karizov is legendary in the Akhal-Teke breed for his knowledge, experience and wisdom.  This is a rare opportunity to interact with one of the breed's most revered individuals, to learn from his vast quantity of knowledge, and to share in the excitement of working together for our still-fragile genepool.
